CPU being the brain behind all the operations in a computer, the computer needs to be supplied with the data to be processed and the instructions to tell what it should do. Once CPU finishes carrying out the instructions it stores result in its storage space.
There are two types of system memories:
- The Random Access Memory (RAM)
- The Read Only Memory (ROM)
The RAM is the most important form of memory used by computer. The capacity of RAM is usually measured in Mega Bytes. This type of memory is used to store data and application programs. The memory is read-write and volatile. Two types of RAM are Dynamic RAM and Static RAM.
RO is a permenant memory and cannot undergo changes. ROM stores instructions that initializes all computer programs while booting. ROM unlike RAM is volatile. Types of ROM include PROM,EPROM and EEPROM .
