The Red Fort is located at the bank of Yamuna River in Delhi which was constructed by the fifth Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan. The name Red Fort because of its massive walls built of Red stone. The Red Fort is enclosed within Defensive walls of around 2.41 KM with variation in height i.e. 18 meter in the river side to 33 metres on the city side. The Redfort has 254.67 acre of area.
The Red Fort is Octogonal shaped with north-south axis longer than the east- west axis. The Red fort attracts the vistors with its stunning ornamentation .The Red Fort’s design include Persian, European and Indian art. It took nearly 9 years to complete the construction of the Red Fort. The Red Fort earlier was known as “Qila –e- Mubarak”.
The Highlight of the Red Fort is its huge Wall with two entrances, one is at Lahore gate and other is at Delhi gate. On August 15, Independence Day, the Prime Minister of India hoists the national flag at the main gate of the fort and delivers a speech.
